Hyde County, NC
The new 300 GPM Engelhard Water Treatment Plant for the Hyde County water system was designed as a Nanofiltration treatment process to facilitate removal of hardness and chlorides from the raw groundwater supply. Two 400 GPM raw water supply wells provide water supply for the plant.
The 2,400 SF treatment building houses reverse osmosis treatment units, chemical feed systems, operational and office space, restroom facilities and water testing laboratory. The treatment plant site facilities also include a 200,000 gallon pre-stressed concrete ground storage tank and an elevated storage tank.
In addition to 2,000 LF of 6-inch piping for raw water supply to the plant and 700 LF of 6-inch piping for finished water connection to the water distribution system, 16,700 LF of 4-inch and 6-inch force main was installed to transport the water treatment waste stream to the Pamlico Sound where it is discharged through a 2,000 LF diffuser outfall.
Rivers services included environmental studies and permitting, including NPDES permit, preparation of preliminary engineering report, administration of a test well program and treatment pilot studies, funding acquisition assistance, surveying, design, permitting, construction administration and construction inspection.
