Rivers and Associates, Inc. is currently seeking an Instrument Operator to join the Surveying team. Job duties include: operate survey instruments/equipment required to perform surveys on job sites as directed by the Party Chief; responsible for the operation, checking and basic field adjustments on transits, total stations, robotic total stations, data collectors, levels, compass, tribrachs, tripods, and GPS equipment; must be knowledgeable of the principles of performing basic surveys of leveling, traversing, boundary surveys, construction surveys, topographic surveys, and photogrammetry control surveys; coordinate field work for a variety of standard types of surveys under the supervision of a Party Chief; basic plan reading and preparation and have a basic knowledge of the terminology and principles of conventional drafting; responsible for ensuring the truck is loaded and all supplies necessary for completion of the day’s work are fully stocked; other duties as assigned. Job requirements include High School diploma or equivalent, courses in mathematics and surveying that are required in order to perform the above responsibilities, ability to walk 5 miles a day and/or stand for up to 7 hours a day, ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment, possession of a valid, current driver’s license, motor vehicle records check, ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
